monday monday

we had a nice weekend...ending up going to the zoo. I know, I know, I had said that I hated the whole idea keeping animals in captivity and how horrible it is that people go there and gawk at these poor animals... BUT, Julius wanted to see a real monkey. How can I say 'no' to that? Of course when we finally see the monkeys, Julius exclaims, "That monkey is scratching his butt!" And that was the highlight of the entire trip for my son...and husband for that matter. I don't think I can decide who was more amused by the monkey: Julius or Josh.

But nonetheless, everyone had fun.

Did you go to the Washington National Zoo? They have a great bug house I'm sure Julius would love, which ends in a butterfly greenhouse with hummingbirds. My friend, Flick, sculpted the giant wasp in that exhibit. Julius would probably love the think tank where the orangutans are. One time I was in the ape house and sat beside (glass separated us) a large ape, she kept puking on the glass and licking it up at the noisy people who came in there. I felt sorry for her. The apes can hear everything through the glass. I sat there quietly with her an she just looked at me curiously.

yeah, we went to the zoo in DC. We only stayed for about an hour though because it was crazy-hot. That's awesome about your friend, Flick. We didn't have a chance tp visit the bug house, but we might go back next weekend and will definitly check it out!!! That's so sad about the ape. I really hate the idea of confining animals. I see the ideal view about it and all, but it's just really sad because I keep thinking how these animals would probably be so much happier in their own habitat with their family... :(

that's pretty funny, julieta. and julius can't be held responsible because he's only 3, but i think maybe we shouldn't drag down all males and i can join you in saying that i don't know if i'll ever get josh's humour! but it makes me think of my dad... and it makes me think of how he loves a captive audience of people under 5 years old to listen to his jokes... and maybe it all makes sense.

LOL, it does make sense LOL And you're right: we shouldn't drag down ALL males... :)
